Uurimisrühm keskendub tänapäevaste poliitiliste probleemide uurimisele ja püüab tuvastada ühiskondlikult olulisi makro- ja mikroökonoomilisi seoseid. Peamisteks uurimisvaldkondadeks on makroökonoomiline dünaamika, monetaarökonoomika, ootuste kujunemine, riigirahandus, fiskaalne jätkusuutlikkus, maksudest kõrvalehoidumine ja finantsstabiilsus. Suurem osa uurimustest on orienteeritud majanduspoliitikale, eesmärgiga töötada välja poliitilisi meetmeid majandusliku tulemuslikkuse parandamiseks. Uurimisrühma liikmete uurimistööd on peamiselt empiirilised, kuid baseeruvad alati majandusteoorial. Uurimustes kasutatakse reeglina kaasaegset ökonomeetrilist metoodikat ja avalikke või mitteavalikke andmebaase. Uurimisrühma doktorikraadiga liikmed töötavad individuaalselt, koos uurimisrühma teiste liikmetega või uurimisrühma mittekuuluvate teadlastega. Uurimisrühma üheks prioriteediks on doktorantide juhendamine. Doktorandid töötavad iseseisvalt oma uurimisprojektide kallal, kuid teevad erinevate projektide raames ka koostööd uurimisrühma kogenenumate akadeemiliste liikmetega.

2024. aastal töötati mitmete majandusliku tulemuslikkuse seisukohalt oluliste projektidega, milles uuriti poliitika, reguleerimise ja välisarengu mõju majandusele. • keskenduti euroala inflatsiooni mõjutavatele teguritele ning leiti, et nõudlusšokid on olnud aja jooksul väga olulised. • uuriti sissetulekute pikaajalist ühtlustamist postkommunistlikes riikides ja jõuti järeldusele, et ühtlustamine on olnud väga aeglane, välja arvatud ELi riikides. • hinnati pangalaenude reguleerimise mõju eluasemelaenudele Eestis ja leiti selge negatiivne seos reguleerimise ja laenumahtude vahel. • käimasolevates töödes uuritakse makromajanduslike ja fiskaalšokkide mõju Euroopa riikide võlgade arengule ning vaadeldakse Euroopa eluasemeturgude ühtlustamismustreid.
