Ülevaade
Uurimisrühma teadustegevuse üheks põhi fookuseks on kõrgtehnoloogilises tootmises kriitiliste toormete maakide geneesi ja karakteristikute alased uuringud. Rühma tuumikkompetentsid on seotud setteliste maavarade sh metallirikaste mustade kiltade, fosforiitide ning põlevkivide geoloogiaga aga ka maagipotentsiaali kompleksuuringutega magma- ja moondekivimi kompleksides. Iseseisvaks uurimissuunaks on CO2 sidumise ning CO2 ja vesiniku ladustamise alased uuringud. Interdistsiplinaarse koostöö valdkondades nagu ressursside väärindamine ja kaevandusjäätmete taaskasutamine, toetub uurimisrühm pikaajalisele teadustööle röntgenstruktuuranalüüsi vallas. Uurimisrühm haldab geokeemia-mineraloogia laborikompleksi, mis on varustatud ICP-MS, XRF ja XRD analüsaatoritega ning proovide ettevalmistus liinidega ning võimaldab läbi viia kompleksseid geokeemilisi, mineraloogilisi ja petroloogilisi laboriuuringuid. Rühma kõige uuemaks uurimissuunaks on püsimagnetite taaskasutuse alased uuringud, mille tarbeks alustati 2024. a dekrepitatsioonilabori väljaarendamist.

Tähtsamad tulemused
2024. a osalesid rühma liikmed tulemuslikult mitmete kõrgetasemeliste Horisont Euroopa teadusprojektide taotlemisel laiendades oluliselt senist rahvusvahelist teaduskoostöövõrgustikku kriitiliste toormete uuringuteks, keskendudes uudsete mikroanalüütiliste meetodite arendamisele haruldaste muldmetallide maakide ning väärindamise produktide karakteriseerimiseks ning süvaressursside uuringutele. Oldi edukad TAIE-Maapõue fookusvaldkonna uuringuprojektide taotlemisel, toetudes varasematele Eesti fosforiidi ning kaasnevate ressursside interdistsiplinaarsetele uuringutele. Teaduse tippkeskuste „Sources“ konsortsiumi raames alustati uue uuringusuunana interdistsiplinaarset koostööd strateegiliste toormete ning seotud tarneahelate analüüsiks.
