Ülevaade
Uurimisrühma teadustöö on fokuseeritud taastuvenergeetikas, raudteel, elektersõidukites ja telekommunikatsioonis kasutatavate jõuelektrooniliste süsteemide arendamisele ja katsetamisele. Põhilisteks uurimissuundadeks on muunduritele uute skeemilahenduste loomine, spetsiaalsete juhtimis- ja kaitsealgoritmide arendamine, uudsete komponentide ja materjalide juurutamine ning jõuelektrooniliste süsteemide kasutegurit, võimsustihedust ja töökindlust parandavate juhiste koostamine. Aastast 2010 on Jõuelektroonika uurimisrühm ECPE (European Center for Power Electronics) liige. ECPE on tööstusettevõtete poolt loodud organisatsioon, mis edendab Euroopas jõuelektroonika alast haridust, arendustööd, teadusuuringuid ja arendatud tehnoloogiate ülekannet. Uurimisrühm on osa Eesti teadmistepõhise ehituse tippkeskusest ZEBE. Üks ZEBE põhitegevustest on kodumajapidamiste alalisvoolu mikrovõrkude arendamine ning energiaefektiivsete ja süsinikuneutraalsete hoonete kasutuselevõtu kiirendamine.
Tähtsamad tulemused
2023. aastal keskenduti uue põlvkonna jõuelektroonikal baseeruva kodumajapidamiste AV jaotussüsteemide laialdasemat kasutuselevõttu piiravate tegurite (nt osalt ebaküps tehnoloogia, turuvalmis lahenduste vähesus jm) vähendamiseks sobivate jõuelektrooniliste süsteemide praktilisele arendamisele. Muu hulgas on patenteeritud mitmeid uudseid tehnoloogiaid („OptiVerter DC“, “FlexiVerter”, universaalse väljundiga kahesuunalised jõupooljuhtmuundurid, veatolerantsed alalisvoolumuundurid, kondensaatorivabad isoleeritud muundurid jt), mis aitavad täita tehnoloogilist tühikut, anda hoogu innovatsioonile ja kiirendada AV jaotussüsteemide integratsiooni hoonetes. Viimane asjaolu on oluliseks sammuks energiatõhusamate ja madala süsinikuemissiooniga hoonete suunas.
