Ülevaade
Keskus on spetsialiseerunud veealuse robootika ning andurite teadus-arendustegevusele. Robootikas on rühma uurimisfookuseks liikumine ning selle kontroll vee all ning mitmefaasilistes keskkondades, kohtades kus konventsionaalsed meetodid ei tööta. Robootikast lähtuvalt keskendume samuti bioloogiast inspireeritud tajuvõimete rakendamisele koos tavapäraste robootikas kasutatavate anduritega, tõstmaks meil arendatavate robotite navigeerimisvõimekust. Lisaks robootikarakendustele, otsime oma arendatud bioloogiast inspireeritud sensoritele rakendusi looduslike keskkondade hindamiseks (jõed, rannikualad jne). Keskuse peamised kompetentsid on: (1) Veealuste robotplatvormide arendus ja valmistamine; (2) Mitmefaasilistes keskkondades liikurmehanismide arendus ja kontroll; (3) Struktureerimata keskkondades kaardistamine ja navigeerimine; (4) Veealuste sensorite arendus ja rakendused; (5) Eksperimentaalne vedeliku dünaamika
Tähtsamad tulemused
2023. a olulisemad tulemused: Lõppes Euroopa Horisondi 4-aastane projekt ROBOMINERS, mille eesmärk oli uurida mahajäetud ja üleujutatud kaevandusi. Selle raames töötati välja uudset liikumisviisi kasutav robot liikumiseks pehmel pinnasel, nagu mudas, lumes või märjas liivas. Samuti töötati välja uudsed andurd ning algoritmid navigeerimiseks maaalustes kaevandusetes, kus enamik olemasolevaid andureid kasutamiseks ei sobi.Lõppes Välisministeeriumi poolt finantseeritud Artkikauuringute projekti esimene faas, mille käigus saadi aasta pikkused mõõtmistulemused Biorobootika keskuses välja töötatud Hydromast sensoritega Teravmägede Jääfjoridist. Anduritega saadi aastapikkused aegread lainete ja hoovuste liikumisest
